Why This Program?

Welcome to the paralegal studies program at Hutchinson Community College. Paralegal Studies is part of the Public Safety Department. For more information about the Paralegal degree program, feel free to contact Amy Weeks,, with specific questions about the program.
Paralegals (sometimes referred to as Legal Assistants) perform legal work under the supervision of a lawyer. Paralegals provide critical and integral support to lawyers in private law firms, corporations, public institutions and the government, and have established themselves to be an indispensable part of the legal system. A paralegal performs all tasks under the supervision of a lawyer, except as permitted by law. A paralegal’s duties vary widely. You may find yourself conducting legal research, in an office meeting with executives of a corporation, or reviewing important documents for a document production.

H CC stands apart to me because they have some of the better programs in this area, at a better cost than other schools. HCC is a great place to be, along with a friendly, beautiful campus; it's a really great place for almost anyone to start out.
