IT in Healthcare - CERT A
This program prepares individuals to apply computer programming, troubleshooting, and information technology skills to implementation planning, installation, maintenance, and upgrade of standard, customized, or proprietary medical software and associated hardware. It includes instruction in computer programming, systems analysis, networking, telecommunications, medical records and information software applications, information technology and systems.

Employment includes a wide variety of positions from employers such as hospital systems, clinics, health departments, provider practices, safety net providers, software vendors, consultants, third-party payers,medical device companies, non-profits, and government. Examples of Job Titles to search when considering either of these certificates: Health IT Program Manager, Health System Project Manager, IS Project Lead, Meaningful Use Specialist, Meaningful Use Program Manager, EHR/EMR Consultant Analyst, Clinical Systems Analyst and Clinical Informatics Specialist/Analyst. There are many more, and as healthcare evolves, the list will continue to change.
Government mandate of the EHR for healthcare providers is driving expansion of many IT and Health Care Professional positions with education in this expanding field. It is anticipated that 50,000 additional jobs will be needed in Health Information Technology over the next five years which is almost a 50% increase in size of current HIT workforce.
